Region
Welcome to the region
Here you will learn about the unique charm of the Wadden area and northeastern Friesland, two regions rich in nature, culture and history.
THE WADDEN
The Wadden area: A World of Nature and Adventure
The Wadden area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a vast nature reserve that extends along the northern coast of the Netherlands. This dynamic landscape, where the sea and land are constantly moving, offers a unique experience for nature lovers and adventurers. At low tide, a large part of the Wadden Sea dries up, making the area particularly suitable for activities such as mudflat walking, bird watching and exploring the islands.
FRIESLAND
Peace, Space and Culture
Northeast Friesland, also known as Land in Friesland, is a region that radiates peace and space. With extensive nature reserves such as the Lauwersmeer National Park and the Noardlike Fryske Wâlden National Landscape, it is an ideal destination for walking and cycling enthusiasts. In addition, the region offers a rich cultural history, which can be discovered in historic towns such as Dokkum and various museums that tell the story of Friesland.
